“it's difficult to put the experience into words as it was a feeling...but the feeling was one of warmth, welcome, safety, calm, nurture, fun, play and learning and this was just for me. as a former teacher, teacher trainer and facilitator with a huge amount of experience working with children of all ages, the experience at the camp was like nothing i had experienced before even having worked and supported at other types of holiday camps. the mix of the experience, wisdom and outlook of the staff, the close and supportive bond between them, the serene setting and getting to know the children new and old to kin, left me open, curious and full for weeks and months to come and confirmed i was making the right career change choice. it changed my attitude to what a work place and team work could look and feel like, and i of course had the privilege of being able to witness the magic of forest school unfolding over the course of the camp - activities, games, stories, artwork, structures and ideas initiated and imagined by the children for themselves alone. this is the essence of child led learning and it was beautiful to be a part of it - i highly recommend a work experience placement with kin for anyone on their forest school journey. “
